The Department of Educational Studies is composed of three program areas: Counselor Education; Educational Psychology, Research, and Foundations; and Special Education. A fourth program, Educational Technology, is jointly governed by the University of South Carolina Aiken and Columbia.

Brown, Yell Named Editors of Prestigious Journals

Professors William Brown and Mitchell Yell of the Special Education program have been named editors of two important journals in the discipline.  Brown is the new editor of the Journal of Early Intervention, while Yell serves in the same role for the Journal of Disability Policy Studies.  Both men will edit the respective publications for five years. Drasgow, Yell, and Wieder Publish Books

Three faculty members published new books this spring.  Erik Drasgow and Mitchell Yell in the special education program collaborated with Nancy Meadows and James Shriner on Evidence-Based Practices for Educating Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders.  Alan Wieder, Department Chair and a member of the social foundations faculty, published Teacher and Comrade: Richard Dudley and the Fight for Democracy in South AfricaMore
